The Opal Poodle LLC

Private Luxury Pet Grooming

The Opal Poodle Pet Spa is a private 1-on-1 kennel free pet grooming salon based in Splendora, Texas. At The Opal Poodle, I don't rush pets through their services as I only take 2 to 3 private appointments per day. Due to being low volume, I’m able to provide a calmer grooming experience to your pets. I strive to provide luxury appointments and use high end products, because I believe your pet deserves the best.I'm fully insured and multi-certified for dog and cat grooming. My certifications include but are not limited to AKC S.A.F.E Certification, Feline Safety Handling Certification, as well as Canine and Feline First Aid and CPR Certification. When you walk into the grooming check in area, feel free to look at my certifications where they are framed and hung on the wall.

Why Do Certifications Matter?

As pet grooming is a completely unregulated field, I take pride in my certifications and knowledge in my craft as well as my commitment to keeping up with advancements in the pet grooming industry. I believe continuing to invest in my career should be the bare minimum expected from any pet professional, as the saying goes, “when you know better, you do better.”

Why 1-on-1 Pet Grooming?

1-on-1 pet grooming offers a better environment for pets who need more time and attention than the average pet that attends a regular multi-pet grooming salon. I opened The Opal Poodle for pets like my first dog who was dog-reactive; just hearing other dogs in the salon would stress him out to the point where I couldn’t bring him to the salons that I’ve worked at in the past.

Stress Free vs Gentle Grooming

Grooming in itself can be a stressful experience for pets who are not used to the process or have had bad experiences. While I can’t offer a totally stress-free experience, I can offer gentle grooming. With gentle grooming, I don’t pressure your dog into more than what they can handle during that service. I take into consideration dogs with anxiety, senior dogs’ needs, or dogs with sensitivities, and I change how I groom. No two dogs receive the same service because not every dog has the same needs. My priority when grooming your pet is your dog’s well-being first, and a pretty groom second. I want every dog to leave my salon realizing that grooming does not have to be a scary process.

Grooming Policies

Pricing
All pricing given is a starting quote. Pricing is subject to change based on pet’s breed, size, behavior, coat condition and service type requested. Pricing may also be subject to change due to late pick ups.
Matting
Pets with matted coats require additional time and care. A dematting fee will be added based on the severity of the matting. In cases where matting is excessive or causes discomfort, shaving may be the safest and most humane option.
Deshedding
Excessive deshedding will incur an extra charge due to the amount of product, skill, and time needed to fully release the coat.
Fleas
For the health and safety of all pets, dogs found with fleas will incur an additional flea treatment and sanitation fee. Cats with fleas will be declined until the fleas are taken care of due to the risk of flea and tick shampoos.
Senior Pets, Pets with Medical Conditions & Stress
The safety and comfort of your pet are always my top priority. Senior pets, pets with medical conditions, or pets that become overly stressed during grooming may require modifications to their grooming or for the appointment to end early if continuing would put them at risk. Grooming can be physically demanding, especially for older pets, and I will always do what is in your dog’s best interest.
Confirmation
All clients will receive a text with a link to confirm their appointment 48 hours in advance. Clients will have up to 24 hours of receiving the confirmation text to confirm. If not confirmed within the 24-hour period, the appointment is automatically cancelled by my booking system and will be offered up to another client on my wait list. Clients that have appointments automatically cancelled due to lack of confirmation will also be required to place non-refundable deposits for future appointments.
Pickup
A courtesy text will be sent approximately 30 minutes before your pet’s appointment is complete. If you need to know 45 minutes to an hour before finished groom time, please let me know. I will also send a completed text when your pet is finished. Please arrive promptly once notified your pet is finished.
Late Pickup Fee
I offer a 10-minute grace period for pickup after finished groom text. Once the 10-minute grace period is over, a $1 per minute is charged. This is to ensure appointments are kept running smoothly, as I do work with pets one-on-one and do not have the space to hold pets when my next appointment arrives.
Cancellations and Reschedules
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellations. A client that reschedules or cancels within the 48-hour period prior to the appointment will require a non-refundable deposit going forwards. I reserve the right to charge 100% of service due to loss of revenue once cancellation or rescheduling occurs within the 24-hour period.
No Shows and Late arrivals
It is considered a “no-show” when a client is not available or did not arrive at the scheduled appointment time and does not contact the groomer to reschedule or cancel. No-shows will be charged the full grooming fee due to loss of revenue. Please make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule when possible to avoid incurring a no-show fee. At 15 minutes late, your appointment will be rescheduled and will be charged the full rate of the grooming fee due to loss of revenue. Late arrivals and no-shows will require a non-refundable deposit to rebook for future appointments.
